Partridge in a Pear Tree

12 Days of Christmas: A Collection of Poetry

The air was crisp

The night cold

And through the window

The house shimmered gold

The little partridge

In the pear tree

Peered closely

With wide eyes to see

When he looked inside

He was filled with cheer

As he saw the wonderful tree

Decked out with little reindeer

He then looked up

And within the night

He saw a sleigh

With reindeer in flight

“Santa!” he tweeted

And fluttered about

As presents flew down

To each and every house

He stared in awe

At the marvelous sight

And flew back to his pear tree

With great delight

When he got to his branch

and looked at the nest

He decided it was time

To get some rest

But just before

He cheered with glee

As he saw a little present

Sitting on his tree

He leapt with joy

And slept away

As he waited patiently

For Christmas Day
