The first week of school was met with a few challenges as several teachers were out with COVID. Students walked into the Upper School for the first day with some familiar faces missing; among them, Dr. Muoio, Head of the Upper School.
“During a year when we anticipated moving away from the effects of COVID, testing positive the weekend before our first week of school proved to be a bit disappointing,” Dr. Muoio responded, when asked about her feelings about being absent from school. “As we have all learned, it is difficult to replicate the feeling and energy of being together in-person and on campus. However, this made the second week of school that much better! I am grateful for an incredible faculty who worked together to help ensure a phenomenal start to the year.”
Dr. Muoio was able to Google Meet into the beginning of the school day in order to welcome everyone, and students were happy to see her and see that she was feeling better than she initially was.
COVID continues to impact the Upper School, with both teachers and students having to take days off in order to recover. However, the members of the Upper School are hopeful that this will end soon.
