On Sept. 7 at 7:55 AM, students across all three divisions, Upper School, Middle School, and Lower School, walked into the green brick walls of Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart. This officially marked the first day of school for the 2022-2023 school year. The day also marked a new chapter for the senior class, as this was their last “first day” at Stuart.
When the seniors visited their new lockers for the school year, they were adorned with black and gold “Senior 2023” sashes. Inside, they found a personalized bag filled with school essentials including a notebook, tissues, and erasers, courtesy of the Stuart Parent Association senior moms. Ms. Zosche and Ms. Kachmarski kept it a surprise by decorating the lockers after orientation the previous day.
The white lockers shone brightly in the luminescent lights of the Upper School Resource Center, as the seniors smiled and hugged each other, knowing that it was a bittersweet day.
“Stuart has been like my second home all these years,” commented Mia Zebrauskas ’23. “It’s a great fresh start. Even though it’s the first day, I know that there is so much more to come.”
The class of 2023 is looking forward to their final year at Stuart; however, the fall is a challenging time for seniors, with college application deadlines fast-approaching.
“I’m nervous to press submit on those applications,” commented Phoenix Feldman ’23.
