From Jan. 24-27, Stuart Country Day School participated in their annual collection of food and toiletries to donate to the Loaves and Fishes program at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Every year on the last Saturday in January, Stuart provides food and toiletries to those in need in the greater Trenton area. While Stuart usually staffs this event with community members, Covid-19 protocols prevented in-person service this year.
Loaves and Fishes is a local program that serves hot meals to the Trenton community on the last two Sundays of each month. Local parishes and communities have helped out with this program for the past 40 years, one such community being Stuart Country Day School. For decades, Stuart has been donating to Loaves in Fishes, and this year alone, they were able to provide 400 hot meals, bagged lunches, and hygiene bags. The hot meals were donated by FLIK Independent School Dining, Stuart’s dining service provider. The Middle School and Upper School students packed bagged lunches and toiletries bags, respectively.
Stuart’s continued devotion to Loaves and Fishes emphasizes the commitment to the Sacred Heart Goals & Criteria, specifically to Goal III, “A social awareness that impels to action.” These goals provide the foundation for the 25 Schools of the Sacred Heart in the United States and Canada.
