On Dec. 1, students from the Trimester 1 Digital Art: Photography 1 class opened up a virtual gallery displaying their work from throughout the trimester. The gallery will stay open until Feb. 1, allowing everyone in the community a chance to view the artists’ work. The gallery is three-dimensional, so viewers can feel like they are walking through an actual space. There is even a guided tour that visitors can participate in. Each photo includes a title and the artist’s name.
In the Photo 1 course, students learn the basics of the digital camera and how to photograph using all the various modes and settings. Mr. Wilkinson, the teacher, emphasizes learning the manual controls of the camera through a variety of assignments, including projects on: aperture, shutter priority, the ten rules of composition, and an ‘Inspired by an artist’ assignment. In addition, students practice Photoshop techniques. The current exhibition is a curated sampling of this work.
