On Nov. 16 the new Stuart Student Center opened for the Upper School. The excitement of students, faculty, and staff was visible. The Student Center was under construction for the past six months. As a result, students and faculty members were restricted to eating in the Upper School Resource Center (USRC) and designated classrooms during lunchtime.
In the afternoon, the Head of the Upper School, Dr. Marissa Muoio, gathered everyone in the USRC to walk down to the Student Center together. Upon arrival, Chef Anthony Abate explained the new facility and the process for daily lunch distribution. With everyone gathered around him he said, “I missed you guys.”
The inaugural menu featured a variety of options. “I thought it was nice to get away from the boxed lunches,” said Selena Liu ’22. “I really liked that there are more options now.”
For students, the most popular selections were the meatball sub, the chicken noodle soup, and the classic Stuart chocolate chip cookie.
While this was only a soft opening, the Student Center will officially open for all three divisions on Nov. 22.
