Today, there was a math test, and people made you upset. You tried to brush it off, and it wouldn’t go away, but tomorrow will be better.
Today you got a bad grade even though you studied hard, and then you hurt your knee at practice, but tomorrow will be better.
Today, you were late to school and you got in trouble. Maybe it was your fault, maybe something happened that was out of your control, but tomorrow will be better.
You have to say it until it becomes true. Tomorrow will be better because you are choosing to believe it will be. You will push through today because tomorrow will be better.
The seasons will change, attitudes will change (including your own), and tomorrow will be better. The stress is temporary, embarrassment fades, and tomorrow will be better. I’m not saying it will be perfect, but it will be better.
Say it even if you don’t believe it. Say it because you need it to be true. Say it so often that you are quite literally willing it into existence. Say it until it becomes a habit, a mindset change, a quiet resilience you hold onto deep inside.
Saying it might not make it happen, but it will push you mentally to make it to tomorrow every day. It will keep you going, and as long as you are going, you are winning. Every time you tell yourself tomorrow will be better, you are not lying; you are setting an intention. You are preparing to make a choice that makes things lighter, even if it’s just by a little.
Maybe this starts with something small. Maybe it’s choosing to wear clothes that make you feel more like yourself. Maybe it’s not checking your grades every day because you are more than numbers and percentages. Maybe it’s texting a friend to meet up or just taking ten minutes to breathe and listen to music you love. You don’t have to fix everything; you just have to pick one thing to care for, yourself.
Give yourself a break sometimes. Email your teachers when you are struggling, try your best, and then maybe move on. Tomorrow will only be better if you have the energy to make it there. This means you have to take care of yourself today.
Tomorrow will be better because I am telling you it will. Tomorrow will be better because it has to be better. And if it’s not? Then the day after or the one after that.
As long as you keep trying, as long as you keep going, tomorrow will be better.
