Ms. Allison Davis is a face who you might see while walking in the hallway or when getting help with math homework; she is the newest addition to Stuart’s math team.
Ms. Davis came to Stuart at the start of the school year and teaches a variety of math classes including geometry, finance, and integrated math. Before coming to Stuart, she worked in Maryland where she lived for a short amount of time while teaching at a private school. Having taught math for three years, Ms. Davis loves math. She has always had a passion for the subject, which enjoys sharing with all of her students. She commented that her favorite type to do is geometry, specifically proofs. This is something she just so happens to be teaching this year!
Many components brought Ms. Davis to Stuart, as she was already looking for a private school. She found our school to be a great fit it, and she was especially excited about the all-girls element that is so special here. When asked what she loves most about teaching at an all-girls school, she said,“I think it’s exciting to empower young women and hopefully get them into some kind of STEM field.” Having such a love for STEM will definitely help Ms. Davis aid aspiring young girls to reach their math goals. While being a teacher comes with many highlights, Ms. Davis remarked that her favorite parts include “Being able to see students grow so much from the beginning of the year to the end, small growth and specific skills and building relationships with the kids.”
Other than teaching math, Ms. Davis does lots of fun and exciting things in her free time. She loves to travel with her friends. This past summer, she traveled all around the United States. Her next destination is Puerto Rico. Later in the year, she is also planning a trip to Greece and Croatia. In her day-to-day life, she and her friends enjoy going out to local restaurants in Philly and trying new, undiscovered places. Another fun fact that you many not know about Ms. Davis is that football season is one of her favorite times of the year. She is a huge Eagles fan, and during fall ,she enjoys rooting for the Birds and watching their games.
If she wasn’t a math teacher and had to have a different job, she remarked that she would be a mixologist. She likes getting to know people and hearing about them and their stories, and she feels that that would be the perfect job for that.
Another fun fact about Ms. Davis is that she is a huge Disney fan. Her favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast because Belle is her favorite princess. She also loves Camp Rock and enjoys watching it when she has time to spare. Other Ms. Davis hobbies include going to the movies and reading; she recently saw Caught Stealing in the movies, and she read one of Colleen Hoover’s new books, Verity. Her favorite animals are dogs, and she actually has one of her own. She got Willy, her french bulldog, after graduating college. Family is another important part of Davis’s life, and her parents, who also have two dogs, spend lots of time with her and Willy when she is not at work.
Ms. Davis is a wonderful addition to our Stuart community. No matter if you know her or not, she offers her support to any questions or worries you may have. We are so excited to have her as a teacher here! So, when you see Ms. Davis in the hallway, be sure to ask her how Willy is, debrief the latest Eagles game, or ask her where she is traveling to next!
