Ms. Austria is a passionate teacher and alumna of Stuart who comes from South Brunswick, Ms. Austria has been a part of the Stuart community since she entered the sixth grade. Today, she brings her unique blend of expertise to both middle school science and upper school computer science, creating a dynamic crossover elective that excites students about the wonders of STEM.
Ms. Austria’s educational journey took her to Lawrence University in Wisconsin, where she further developed her love for science and technology. However, her heart ultimately led her back to Princeton, where she was eager to contribute to the school that played such a significant role in her own development. During her college years, she gained valuable experience as a tutor and teaching assistant, solidifying her desire to help students learn and grow.
When asked about her decision to work at Stuart, Ms. Austria expressed her deep connection to the school. “I know this place so well,” she shared, reflecting on her time as a member of the class of 2020. “I’m passionate about helping students learn in a supportive environment.”
Beyond teaching, Ms. Austria has a hidden talent: she is an accomplished classical pianist. In her free time, she enjoys playing popular radio songs and dreams of sharing her musical talents through videos online. Music isn’t her only passion; she loves connecting with others, playing tennis, going for long walks, and staying active. She’s also keenly interested in learning about new technologies, which further enhances her teaching approach.
Ms. Austria’s enthusiasm for computer science is palpable. She has always been drawn to STEM fields, particularly coding, and she finds joy in helping students who may not see themselves as natural coders. “It’s fun to help them discover their potential,” she says, emphasizing her commitment to fostering a love for technology.
This school year, Ms. Austria is particularly excited about ramping up the introductory AI program. She aims to bridge the school’s AI policy with practical applications, helping students understand that AI is a powerful tool rather than an adversary. “There is so much you can do with AI,” she notes. “I want to show students how they can harness it for their benefit.”
With her passion for teaching, her musical talents, and her commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, Ms. Austria is not just a teacher—she is a mentor and an inspiration to her students at Stuart. As she embarks on this school year, her excitement and dedication promise to make a significant impact on the next generation of learners.
