Melissa Brescia is the new Upper School Administrative Assistant and Cor Cordis Programming Coordinator with a passion for helping young women achieve their health and wellness goals and guiding them in their journey.
With Stuart’s addition of the Cor Cordis center this year, which focuses on the physical and emotional health of the students, the school believes it is necessary to have a person to coordinate between the health and wellness departments–and Ms. Brescia is perfect for the job.
For the past 10 years, Ms. Brescia has been working with women who want to better their nutrition and improve their health habits. When recalling her experience, Ms. Brescia says: “I was learning so much about…[how these women] wish they had been…around someone when they were younger who knew about health and nutrition and…[had] been in an environment where they could learn more when they were younger.” Ms. Brescia is now taking her prior health and wellness knowledge and using it to support our community through Cor Cordis programming.
A fun fact about Ms. Brescia: in 2010, she worked on The Rachael Ray Show and met countless A-list celebrities including Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Julianne Moore, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and George Clooney.
Outside of Stuart, Ms. Brescia enjoys cooking and baking. She has a gluten sensitivity and comedically says it’s hard to be Italian when you can’t have pasta. Ms. Brescia also channels her nutrition knowledge into her recipes and states: “I’m always looking to make like a recipe that I found at a restaurant and try to change it into something like a little bit more healthier, cleaner…[and] less sugar.”
This year, Ms. Brescia is looking forward to making connections with the faculty and students, and watching each individual student experience personal growth in their health and wellness journey in the Upper School.
