There once was a man of many questions,
Questions that nobody knows,
He was brilliantly smart yet silent,
Nobody knows why he was quiet.
One day, he came upon a prophet known far and wide,
For answering questions no other could.
He paid the toll and went inside,
And found magic like he’d never seen before.
He asked, “Why does death exist?
What is the point of endless blackness?
Why must we die?
We are born only to sink back into eternal blackness.
“Why do people want to know so much?
I do, and it has led me to suffering.
There is nothing for me to do more,
Except to wait for darkness!”
Questions poured out like an endless stream,
Anger, sadness, pain, all bundled into chaos.
Yet the prophet watched, unfazed.
And still, he continued.
“Why must it continue to take?
Blackness stole away my family,
Engulfing them until they could no longer see light.
Yet it left me alone to suffer; why is it so cruel?”
He cried out his sadness, told of his pain,
And all the while, the prophet watched.
Watched him suffer, watched him pour out his heart.
At last, the prophet spoke.
“I cannot end your sadness;
I only answer your questions.
I cannot stop your madness;
Only give you suggestions.”
The man thought deeply,
Until he finally said,
“Give me my prophecy;
Let the answers free me.”
The prophet thought in trance,
Then finally spoke.
The words were simple yet complex,
The meaning plain yet deep.
“Death is twin of life,
They must both exist.
I know not why it took your wife,
Or if you’re on its list.
“You are not in endless blackness,
But instead in beautiful heaven
You won’t be driven into eternal madness,
So there’s no need to ask that question.
“People want to learn to find boundless knowledge,
They don’t care about the bad.
And it is with this knowledge,
They find satisfaction and are glad.
“Humans live and enjoy life,
They can’t see what’s ahead.
For if you see strife,
Poison goes to your head.
“You are different, for you see all.
Like me, you cling on to color.
Don’t let that be your downfall,
Embrace heaven like all others.
“People live to love,
Not to be angry or sad.
There is nothing to be afraid of,
Find your family and be glad.”
The man relaxed,
He breathed a sigh.
And the prophet angel brought him up to heaven,
Where he rejoined his family for all eternity.
