From Oct. 3-Oct. 5, the Stuart varsity volleyball team attended a Sacred Heart tournament hosted by Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami, FL. From the intense matches to the team bonding activities, it was a trip filled with excitement and camaraderie.
On the first day, athletes had a team brunch and got a chance to settle in before the games ahead. That night included an opening prayer service at Carrollton to kick off the tournament. When the tournament officially began, Stuart played three games the first day and two the second. After the first three games, all six Sacred Heart schools in attendance gathered at Flamingo Park for an afternoon of service; they helped clean up garbage and pollution. For further bonding time, they attended a pool party, also hosted by Carrollton.
The games were tough, but Stuart powered through as a team. They faced some strong opponents, but their determination and teamwork helped them overcome every challenge. The team said it was incredible to see how they supported each other and pushed themselves to give our best on the court. Together, they proved that nothing stops a Stuart girl.
The final team score of 2-3 may not have been what they hoped for, but it was a valuable learning experience. Congratulations to Carrollton for being the tournament champions. As a team, Stuart was inspired to see their triumph and it highlighted that hard work individually and as a team pays off.
My opinion on the experience? We made some truly unique connections with the other Sacred Heart girls. It was so cool to learn about their schools and see the similarities and differences with Stuart. We bonded over our shared love for volleyball, and our Sacred Heart traditions, learned about their schools, and discovered new perspectives. It was a great opportunity to make new friends and create long-lasting connections. Overall, the Sacred Heart volleyball Tournament in Miami was an amazing trip that we are all so grateful for. The moments we had and the bonds we formed as sisters of the Sacred Heart are very hard to find. You can count Stuart in for the next tournament, and we will continue to work hard and push ourselves to give our best on and off the court.
