Dec. 9, 2022, officially marked the annual Stuart Country Day School Ring Ceremony for the Class of 2024. The ring ceremony signifies the juniors’ place as upperclassmen and that they will each be forever connected to their senior ring buddies and alumni sisters.
Students, faculty, parents, and alumni of Stuart gathered in Cor Unum for one of the most distinct and annual special traditions at Stuart. The ceremony opened with remarks from Dr. Marissa Muoio, Head of Upper School at Stuart, followed by a prayer and an explanation of the ring’s significance by Lily Harlan, senior class vice president, and Mia Zebrauskus, senior class president, respectively.
“The ring you receive today is a token of your upbringing and history, as well as the network of alumni who will forever have your back,” said Zebrauskas. “Today, you wear your rings with the deer turned inward, as a symbol of your commitment to yourselves and to your personal growth.”
One-by-one, each senior walked down the aisle to receive the ring from Ms. Julia Breen Wall, Head of School, and then proceeded towards their junior ring buddy, candle and ring in hand.
Also participating in the ceremony, Monsignor Gregory Malovitz provided a blessing of the rings and senior Katherine Zong gave a reading of Psalm 111.
The ceremony concluded with remarks from Ms. Wall.
The Stuart ring ceremony includes a special ring turning tradition which requires the ring be turned one hundred times plus the recipient’s year of graduation and one extra turn for good luck–a total of 125 turns for the Class of 2024.
